The board · in season

Breakfast,
seven to noon.

Southern home cooking, the same it has been since 1962. We do not have an espresso machine. We do not have avocado toast. We have eggs, bacon, ham, grits, biscuits, and a coffee urn that has been on since before the sun came up.

a note

Prices are not on this page. Prices are on the chalkboard at the counter, in pencil, kept current by Slim. Cash only, every day. An ATM is two blocks east on Bluegrass Lane.

A note about the room

Communal tables, both of them. You sit where there is a stool.

The long table at the window is communal. The short one in back is communal. Strangers end up sharing salt. Sometimes a trainer ends up telling a tourist about the mare in the third stall. Mostly people read the program and eat their eggs.

" Best country ham in the county. The grits are real. The coffee is coffee. "
